Divide
DivideTraversing to Crystal RIdge on Blackcomb, I took a quick hocky stop after eying this tree on the side of the catwalk. After walking up and down in my ski boots to find the right angle, I found the point where the clouds below me faded and started to show the Rendevous and Peak to Peak station on Blackcomb, using the tree as the devider.
Cross
CrossSitting on the top of the Glacier Chair at the top of Blackcomb, I crossed my poles as I waited for my dad to meet up with me at the top. Using the rule of thirds, I crossed the poles to create this unique and fun photo.
Landscape
LandscapeAt the top of Blackcomb, I took a quick snapshot with my camera of the landscape surrounding me. Whistler is truly a world wonder filled with different mountians, trees, and caves that make it a unique environment that is impossible to find elsewhere in the world.
Ilanaaq
IlanaaqIlanaaq means "friend" in an Inuit language. This was the symbol of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. These statues are located throughout both Blackcomb and Whistler mountain, here on the top of Blackcomb towards Crystal Ridge.
Deep
DeepPowder. Pow Pow. However you call it, the mountain had gotten around 5 inches the night before. On Saturday, I stuck my pole in the snow and pushed it down until I hit the bottom, only exposing the top of the pole. The snow that day was incredible, skiing with my dad through the glades and sending fresh snow flying behind me while I twisted and turned through the woods.
Lights
LightsSplitting off from our group of 18, I walked down from our hotel to the base of the Wizard Chair, with the sole intention of taking photos. Covering the trees, lights shined in the night lighting up the base of the mountian.
Blur
BlurUsing the "nifty fifty" lens, I cranked down the aperture to f/1.8 to allow for an extremely blurry background and a short focal point. With this, THe lights in the background blurred creating colorful circles that light up the photo.
Winter
WinterI'm a summer guy. But, that doesn't take away from the beauty that winter holds. Walking through the Whistler Villiage, I looked up and saw these bright, neon snowflakes in the sky. I love how the blue snowlake is surrounded by the two white ones giving it a special look.
Separation
SeparationBeing a photographer who likes to have every photo with a crisp focus, I tried to go to the other side of the spectrum and have the entire photo be blurred. I between the Upper Village on Blackcomb and Whistler Village, a bridge with changing lights crosses the Fitzsimmons River. Taking this blurry photo, the lights the lit up the different sides of the bridge cut perfectly, separating the blue and red.
